1-  Village of Atlantis from the playa

Side view in the early morning, as Atlantean Tai Chi begins to gather in front of our three-story wooden pyramid.

Also viewable:
--My tent
--Ray Cirino's Water Woman sculpture
--A shade structure made from an Army Surplus parachute, designed to house "The Atlantean Game of Hunker Howzer." (With everything else going on this never actually happened, but the structure did house a memorable birthday party and served as visual counterpoint to the pyramid.)
--Grady's truck, center for sound & music for the Dance Vortex.

2-  Professor Rubik on the steps of his pyramid

Many hands helped build the pyramid, designed and led by our Professor.

The sign below the second-story door reminds visitors to remove their clothes before entering this sacred space.

3-  Atlantis Village Square from atop the pyramid

View through Ray Cirino's Water Woman of the village square and beyond.

The four plywood cubes framing the kitchen and dining areas were used as pantry, musicians' storage, costume creation space, and technical staging.

4-  Linton, Rault & Jehanne

From atop the pyramid.

5-  Sunset from atop the pyramid

Looking west over Grady's sound truck and the Professor's purple cube.

We're at 6:45 on the Head Way (Esplanade). The far end of the curve terminates at 10:00, where the louder sound-oriented camps were supposed to be.

6-  David giving the Atlantean Greeting

Xaixati Isaili! (Atlantean for "high desire.") Paoli Liopa! ("pure love.")

David spent many hours helping build the pyramid.

Behind him to the right may be seen Center Camp, and the eastern wing of Black Rock City.

7-  Christopher, Hadley & Pepe

Looking out over the playa from the Pyramid's front window.

8-  Elonifer Skyhawk inside the window

At the core of the Atlantean belief system is the pyramid-shaded Atlantean Tarot, rescued from the mists of time by Christopher Fuelling with illustrations channeled by Cody Chancellor.

Elonifer was one of several villagers who learned the intricacies of the Atlantean system. Several afternoons he offered readings in the second floor of the pyramid.

9-  Elonifer reading the Atlantean Tarot

Tarot readings are a two-step process. Here Annie Hallatt spins the 'mother octohedron.'

Which of its eight sides turns up determines which of the four suit tetrahedrons she will roll next.

Remarkably, Annie got the Sunsnake suit, and when she spun that got the Sun card in its balanced position. This corresponded exactly to the Thar Taur character she performed in the Great Rite.

10-  Christopher leads a workshop in the Atlantean Tarot

He sits in one of three lushly appointed corner nap stations.

Marnie and other students study a chart on the far wall detailing the significance of the Atlantean hieroglyphs in the corners of each card.
