- Head Chef Sebastian Holz All the way from Utrecht, where he is a singer, leads several music groups, and operates a catering business. Among Sebastian's many talents is throat-singing, a specialty of many camp
members. Impromptu toning sessions sometimes took place in the acoustically
interesting pantry. |
- Head Baker and Chef Sarah Goody Part of the camp's large Vancouver contingent, Sarah specialized in delicious vegetarian dishes and baked goods. |
- Sarah fires her oven Sarah's major project on the playa was the construction and use of a brick oven. She found instructions for how to build it on the Internet. |
- First loaves from Sarah's oven Dressed in the traditional Baker's Tutu, Sarah serves the first fruits of her brick oven. The hand reaching for the first loaf is Alison's. |
- Sebastian in the turquoise peplum of an Atlantean Moonbull Priest Sebastian prepares to use Sarah's oven for a dish that she, a vegetarian, never tasted but which many of us appreciated. |
- Sebastian with turkeys ready for the oven Other evenings we had tuna filet, sirloin steak, wonderful salads... More than one Atlantean said that they ate better on the playa this year than they usually do at home. |
- Sarah repairing her oven while others bathe In the evening dark some clueless visitor mistook Sarah's oven for a chair and sat on it. It took most of a day to reassemble the sand & mud necessary to rebuild, but soon she was back in business. Ray Cerino gave his towering Water Woman sculpture the delightful ability to dribble showers down onto dusty members of the camp. |
- Kirsten, Twan, Ray & Christopher make lunch The group kitchen greatly helped in building a sense of community in the Village of Atlantis.
- Christine & friend have a pita lunch | ||||
- Marnie presides over compost You can't make an omelet without breaking eggs... Good thing there are no nosy four-legs on the playa. One camp nearby, however, handled its compost by keeping a pig. |
