A
few images of what was going on elsewhere on the playa.
One
of Larry Harvey's more inspired innovations this year was the inclusion
of alcoves for gurus in the pyramid underneath the Man. Sometimes
the spots there were allotted to specific people, but much of the
time anyone could appoint themself guru.
It
may have been the smallest Temple on the playa, but the Temple of
Dog was among the most inspired. As the week went on more and more
tributes to personal Dogs appeared.
I
didn't catch the name of this sculptor, encountered lounging on his
work soon after its completion, during a minor dust storm.
David
Best's temple this year is very reminiscent of some of his early work,
on display at the di Rosa Preserve in Napa, though now on a much larger
scale.
Eloise,
on her way to Spain from New Zealand via the playa, posing beneath
one of the two giant balloons waiting in the camp next door to loft
the "Eyes of Gawd" high above the playa.
One of the most photographed girls on the playa this year, at a nearby
camp offering body coloring. Doting Papa waits just off camera.
