Some
random shots by a part-time photographer (usually otherwise engaged) that
happened to work in 3D. All sorts of things missing here...nothing of
the Gamelan, for example! Shots from last year will have to do for monkey
chant and harmonic singing
workshops, etc.
Dragonfly
(a/k/a Mahout this year) built a Spirit Lair in which he offered
various spiritual and physical practices including the ancient art
of henna body painting (mehdi).
Canadian
Alison provided the canvas for Mahout's most elaborate composition.
A couple days later, she shows off the fading results in front of
Dancin Phul's tent.
Dan
and Alison near sunset atop the sturdy structure known at "Seven
Sticks" that provides both shade for the camp common area and
a delightful spot from which to view the playa.
Meredith
and Alison maintain that they did no costume coordination pre-playa,
this happened serendipitously.
Meredith's
virtuouso theremin performance was a key part of the Omphalos ritual
(paired, oddly but successfully, with Arjuna's Tibetan horn). She
and Dan have known each other since grade school.
Sygyt
named himself after the Tuvan word for "whistle," one of
the styles of throat singing he teaches at Opera Camp when Arjuna
is otherwise engaged.
Derrell
led a group of us across the playa to get genital identity cards.
This is his payback...
The
Go-Go card game reappeared this year. Here Tiff, dared to "trade
clothes with a man for an hour," chose Robert who was only wearing
a penis sheath. Canadian Alison, given the same dare, traded with
Robert again and is wearing Tiff's dress.
Another Go-Go dare: Emily spent an hour echoing everything
Raven, the youngest member of our camp, said or did. Raven caught
on very quickly.
